Training Courses complete with club owned boats
are run during the season to enable a complete beginner to learn
basic sailing techniques and acquire enough sailing experience
to judge if sailing is for them.
Although a charge is made for this training and equipment use
(excluding academy members) the true cost is heavily subsidised
by the existing membership to actively encourage potential new
sailing members to the club.
The club owns a fleet of Picos and
Toppers plus a Hobie 16 and a new RS Vision. This wide range of
boats allows us to run a varied range of courses through out the
year including improver courses specialising on one aspect of
sailing as the demand is needed.

The motorboats are available during
organised sailing days and are primarily used for laying marks,
assisting with race management and training and being available
to any member requiring assistance.
Eastbourne Sovereign
Sailing Club owns three motorboats. Dolphin is a 5 metre rib
with a 50hp Suzuki outboard. Sceptre is a small RIB launched off
the club beach to support training. Seahorse (pictured below),
our newest motorboat, is custom built by Cheetah Marine. It's a
twin 50hp Suzuki outboard catamaran which provides a stable
platform to run committee boat starts and provide support in
almost any weather condition.

Contender, RS700, RS800, dinghies and Dart16, Hobie16, Dart18,

series can obtain class status.
Racing is run
almost every Sunday between March and Boxing Day and Wednesdays
throughout the summer. From beginners to sailing, those learning
to race, and European Champions, all the competitors enjoy this
side of the sport followed by the un-official evaluation round
the bar afterwards.

The club house provides a wide range of facilities. These
include male and female changing rooms, showers, disabled
access, and a sun-drenched balcony that overlooks the beach and
sailing area.
The club canteen is open on weekends and
Wednesday evenings during the sailing season providing hot and
cold snacks.
The club also hosts a fully stocked bar serving alcoholic and
non-alcoholic beverages providing the perfect place to unwind
after a perfect day's sailing and share your days experiences.
The bar is also an ideal location to get sailing tips from some
of the best sailors in the country.

Eastbourne is one of
the sunniest towns on the south coast. Sailing can be undertaken
at all states of the tide with no obstructions to worry about
and Eastbourne has long been known to annually win the Blue Flag
for sea quality and clean beaches. Sailing occurs during
Wednesday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday.
The programme for Saturdays is to help and encourage people to
get afloat and that includes mentoring and training where
applicable.
Check out the rest of the website for the full sailing
programme, amenities and opportunities including our annual
cardboard box race (pictured below) which takes place at the end
of our family sailing week.

Great
importance is placed on the social ambience of the club and to
that effect many events are arranged throughout the year with
active member participation being encouraged.
The events are many and varied ranging from game and quiz
evenings, BBQs and discos to trips to the local Bowling Alley or
Theatres.
The year starts in style with the fitting out supper and ends
with the laying up supper normally held at the Hydro Hotel.
Other popular events include the Children's Christmas Party and
buffet and Pims on the Prom.
Check out our social events page for more information on
upcoming events.
